Logistics case study
Parcel tracking and dispatch for fast-paced e-commerce delivery
WeParcel is a courier and delivery platform built for fast-paced e-commerce operations, covering a parcel from booking through to the customer's door.
The problem
E-commerce delivery goes wrong in the gap between the order and the doorstep. The seller cannot say where a parcel is, the customer rings to ask, and dispatch works from a list that is already out of date. Every one of those calls is time that should have gone into moving the next consignment.
What we built
- Real-time parcel tracking, visible to the seller and the end customer
- Order management shaped around how e-commerce dispatch actually runs
- Streamlined dispatch, so allocation stops depending on a manual list
- Delivery status updates that reach the customer without anyone typing them
- Backend integration with the systems the operation already runs on
What made it hard
Carrier integrations are fragmented and inconsistent, and tracking has to stay synchronised exactly when order volume spikes. The hard part was never the happy path — it was staying accurate when traffic arrives in bursts and one upstream API starts timing out.
How we built it
- A modular backend, so one part can be changed or fail without taking the rest with it
- Third-party carrier APIs integrated for live status rather than periodic manual updates
- A dynamic queue system to absorb traffic spikes instead of falling over on them
- Separate dashboards for vendors and for customers, each showing only what that side needs to act on
- Failover readiness, so tracking survives a dependency going down
Who it is for
E-commerce sellers shipping at volume, the dispatch teams working their queue, and the customer waiting at the other end of it.
