Healthcare case study
A community healthcare platform for outreach and emergency response
Health Boat Foundation runs community healthcare programmes for underserved populations, combining outreach, emergency response, digital health access and education.
The problem
Outreach programmes, emergency response and education initiatives were run and recorded separately. Without one system, the organisation could not see what reached which community, and coordinating a response meant working the phones.
What we built
- A single portal covering outreach programmes, emergency response, digital health access and community education
- Programme coordination across multiple regions
- Community education content delivery
- Records of what was delivered where, for reporting to funders
What made it hard
The platform had to serve two audiences that need entirely different things: community members looking for health information, and institutional partners coordinating programmes and reporting to funders. On top of that sat several languages, a wide spread of digital literacy, and connectivity that could not be relied on.
How we built it
- A modular content architecture, so regional teams maintain local content while the global organisation keeps mission and brand consistent
- Emergency response coordination with fallback protocols for low-connectivity environments
- Partnership and grant documentation workflows shaped around international NGO reporting requirements
- Accessibility treated as a design constraint, so community health workers with basic digital skills can use it unaided
Who it is for
Community members, the health workers running outreach on the ground, and the institutional partners and funders who need to see what was delivered where.
